Transforming Suffering and Happiness into the Path of Awakening - with Elias Capriles

The realized ones of the past used to say:

"If you are not unhappy or discontented about anything, then your mind will not be disturbed. Since your mind is not disturbed, the subtle wind energy (Tib. rlung) will not be disturbed. That means the other elements of the body will not be disturbed either. As a result, your mind will not be disturbed, and so it goes on, as the wheel of constant happiness turns.”

Also:

"Horses and donkeys with sores on their backs
Are an easy prey for scavenging birds.
People who are prone to fear,
Are easy victims to negative spirits.
But not those whose character is stable and strong."

In this retreat we will learn how to use suffering and happiness on the Path of Awakening, and how to turn them into the Path of Awakening, both through relative truth and through absolute truth, in the context of the Lojongs (mind trainings) of the Dzogchen Menngagdé (Series of Pith Instructions) and a teaching by Jigme Tenpai Nyima, the Third Dodrub Chen Rinpoche

Elías Capriles is a Santi Maha Sangha Teacher appointed by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, whom he met in 1977 in Boudhanath. He practiced Dzogchen in successive strict 3 months retreats on the Himalayas between 1977 and the end of 1982, after receiving Tregs chod instructions from H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungse Thinle Norbu Rinpoche. He also received teachings and transmissions from H.H. Dilgo Khyentse, Dodrub Chen Rinpoche, Chatral Rinpoche and Pema Norbu Rinpoche.

He has offered conferences in many Universities across the Americas, Europe and Asia, and has also led workshops and courses in several countries. He managed “spiritual emergency refuges” where “psychotics” would go through the natural self-healing process in which they unwillingly embarked, and has been an ecological activist.

He is a member of the Board of the International Transpersonal Association; among his works on this subject, most recent and best known is the four-volume work The Beyond Mind Papers: Transpersonal and Metatranspersonal Theory (Blue Dolphin, Nevada City, CA, 2013).
