• 1 set comprises 5 cotton flags, of the colours of the elements (blue, green, red, white and yellow),

For harmonizing your fortune and energy you should hang lungtas according to your age. The number of single flags should be higher or equal than your age, so you can choose the first multiple of 5 above your age. For example, if you are 38 you hang 40 flags (8 sets of 5). If you are 23 you hang 25 flags (5 sets).

This design for the tibetan prayer flags is not a traditional one, but one inspired by contemporary practice.

On the flags the Primordial Masters of the Dzogchen teachings are represented. The drawing is following the paintings of the Gonpa in Merigar West, our mirror Dzogchen community centre in Tuscany, Italy.

You can read more about these paintings here. In the center of it, Garab Dorje, who introduced Dzogchen teachings to this dimension, is depicted with the mudra of direct introduction (pointing his index to the student), circled by 12 Tibetan letters A.

The inner and outer circles of this design comprise mantras that are essential to Dzogchen practice: the invocation of Garab Dorje, the 100 syllable mantra and the Song of the Vajra.

The function of such images is not just strengthening one’s astrological elements for the year, but also of liberation through seeing (tagdrol in Tibetan). It refers to perception: when we perceive a powerful image related to the Dzogchen teachings, it can arise, or even just plant a seed of liberation in us. It can inspire our devotion, dedication to practice and remind us of our nature.

The design is particularly precise and elegant.

If you hang them in Merigar East, they will be used mainly to decorate the entrance to the gar, to protect this place as a place of continuation of the teachings.
