Renovating Rinpoche’s House

The Namkhai family donated Rinpoche’s house in the village to the Merigar East Association. Our task is now to renovate it. In order to do that, we have been renting the house the whole summer and raised 1500 eur. We need your contribution to start the necessary repairs, as follow:

BASIC (necessary budget 6-10.000 EUR)
– Drainage around the whole building by uncovering the concrete tiles (building has water infiltrations due to bad insulation of the foundation)
– Change concrete plates in the courtyards with materials like compacted gravel, high-raisin wood and soil to drain water
– Installing rain gutters (and guiding the water to the garden) on both buildings will help a lot to control the humidity levels
– Painting the walls and repairing the cracks inside the house and the humidity stains in the kitchen
– Replacing the roof of the outside patio (was made of reed and is now decayed)
– Repairing the outside stairs (made of tiles that are now broken)
– Introducing the connection to the village sewage system that has just been built this year
– Introducing the gas connection to the village gas distribution that just arrived last year

ADVANCED (necessary budget 25.000 EUR)
– Replace the bitumen roof sheets with roof tiles
– Introducing gas heating instead of the current wood heating
– cutting the walls off and inserting a PP plate just like we did in the Gonpa will stop the capillary water traffic and if done soon enough should stop the wall decay by mold
– changing the windows and doors – the current profiles are all used up, bent and letting a lot of heat escape
– Changing the tiled outside stairs to a metal frame and high-raisin wood alternative – better resistance and easier maintenance.
