Sustaining the Living Continuity of Merigar East
For almost 20 years, Merigar East has been a place of practice, transmission, retreat, and shared responsibility.
It is not only buildings and land — it is a living mandala shaped by many hands, intentions, and aspirations.
Rooted in the transmission of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, Merigar East exists as a place where the teachings can continue to be practiced and shared.
Its continuity depends on the effort and care of the people who choose to support it.
2026 — A Gift for the 20th Anniversary
As we approach the 20th Anniversary in 2026, we invite you to participate in a collective gift to Merigar East — a gift that strengthens stability, beauty, and functionality for the years to come.
Through a monthly support subscription — in any amount, even small — you become part of this living continuity.
Support is monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
Your contribution, however modest, becomes part of something lasting.
What Your Support Will Nourish
1. Restoring the Longsal Path
The Longsal Path embodies the vision of Namkhai Yeshi.
Seen from above, the integration of the Gompa and the three mandalas reveals a symbolic harmony reflecting the deeper intention of the Gar.
Over the years, natural growth and seasonal changes have altered its visibility.
Restoring and maintaining the Longsal Path will allow this sacred geometry to be experienced again as originally envisioned.
2. Backup Electricity Generator
Many who have stayed at the Gar know the challenges with electricity.
When irrigation runs, water pressure drops.
When washing machines are used, showers may lose pressure.
Summer retreats increase demand significantly.
A backup generator — used when necessary — would provide stability and remove ongoing technical limitations.
Reliable energy means reliable retreats, water access, and essential services.
3. Improved Internet Infrastructure
Merigar East has always valued its peaceful distance from urban agitation.
Yet this same isolation makes infrastructure costly.
Upgrading to a new fiber optic connection would significantly improve internet quality and reliability — essential for online transmissions, communication, and modern retreat needs.
The installation requires excavation work and considerable investment.
4. Water System Renewal
Water at the Gar comes from an underground well that serves the entire property.
Due to increasing needs and frequent power interruptions in recent years, the pump and distribution system have suffered.
The entire water system — from the camping area to Multifun House and Geko House — needs redesigning and strengthening.
We wish to move beyond the need to choose between watering trees and taking a shower.
Water stability is fundamental to daily life at the Gar.
5. Access Road Improvement
The road connecting the Gar to the main road is exposed to harsh weather conditions.
After heavy spring or autumn rains, access becomes difficult.
Initial repair work began in December 2025.
To complete and secure the road properly, an estimated 6,000 EUR is needed.
Safe and accessible arrival is essential for everyone who comes to practice and participate.
Give a Meaningful 20th Anniversary Gift to Merigar East
Together, we aim to raise €20,000 as a symbolic 20th Anniversary Gift to Merigar East.
This first milestone supports essential infrastructure projects that ensure stability for the years ahead.
The broader infrastructure needs currently amount to approximately €45,000–50,000, including improvements to electricity, water, road access, internet, and the restoration of the Longsal Path.
Monthly support allows us to approach these needs steadily and responsibly.
